It's been a while since my last update; forgive me ~ I've been traveling recently and also moved house...quite an upheaval! I've managed to settle down a bit now, so hope to be posting more frequently. I have so much to share, which I will be sure to do so in upcoming posts.
Most exciting, however, is the August issue of Haute Doll, featuring a dark and delicious doll and clothing collection by the ever-talented Val Zeitler.

I was thrilled to be asked to photograph the cover and the collection itself, which appears in the issue. The collection will go up for sale on the Haute Doll Website on June 25. One does need to be a subscriber to purchase, however. A few sneak peeks can be seen here for those interested. ~C

This is indeed a fabulous collection by Val...I love her clothes and am fortunate enough to own a few things she's made. You did a great job photographing the layout, Miss C. They are outstanding pictures!

I can't believe that you have made me consistently interested in this magazine. Actually, in doll photography in general. My WIFE is the doll person here, but I find myself coveting this magazine issue…
I'm glad you're getting settled -- I ALMOST emailed you to find out if you were okay...

The Sweeney Todd theme -- your idea?

Randi ~ This collection really is phenomenal; Val truly is an incredible designer. Are you planning on getting anything from this colection at all? I've already ordered far more than is prudent but really, can I be blamed? Thanks so much for the kind comment, darlin' xxx
Absinthemadness ~ thank you, thank you, S. Always grateful for your support!
Mike ~ Cheers for the concern; not only have I been abroad, moving house, etc., but all with a little bundle of boy joy brewing inside - you would be surprised at how little one can do when one cannot bend over. You are very kind, and I'm so pleased you have been enjoying the magazine.
As for the Sweeney Todd influence, I discussed the photos with both Val and the editor of HD and they told me that the collection had a definite Sweeney Todd feel to it, so if I wanted to expand upon that I could. During the project I found that each item invoked a particular mood/theme, and I did my best to create those moods in the various photos, whilst being sure to highlight the clothes. I had a great time with it, and hope I get to work with Val again sometime in the future.
